As defined by the master himself:

“Photography is not like painting,” Henri Cartier-Bresson told The Washington Post in 1957. “There is a creative fraction of a second when you are taking a picture. Your eye must see a composition or an expression that life itself offers you, and you must know with intuition when to click the camera.”

“That is the moment the photographer is creative,” he said. “Oop! The Moment! Once you miss it, it is gone forever.”

So the Decisive Moment is all about the photographer and not the camera.

I started this post July of last year and I had a whole bunch of things to say. But after reading HCB’s quote over and over, I realize that it’s just that simple, nothing more nothing less.

Case closed.

People these days passes their judgement of people without talking or knowing anything factual. I think that a bad thing. Yet, I might be really naive for my age.

I think people ignore me when I speak. Regardless of how important it is. From now on I am going to record every coversation I take part in.
